Defenseman, a familiar name to hockey fans, is returning to Quebec after spending several years playing in Europe and various leagues. Originally drafted by the New Jersey Devils in 2009, the 33-year-old has been invited to the Laval Rocket’s training camp. Over the years, he has gained significant experience, having competed in the KHL, as well as in Sweden and Switzerland.

A Returnee to the Montreal Canadiens Organization

This isn’t His first time wearing the Rocket jersey. Back in the 2017-2018 season, he recorded 26 points in 64 games, establishing himself as one of the team’s top offensive defensemen. His return could be valuable, particularly in guiding younger players, especially with David Reinbacher potentially out for a while.

A surprise at the Rocket’s camp: defenseman Éric Gélinas is among the invitees. Having spent the last two seasons in Switzerland, Gélinas was part of the Rocket’s inaugural 2017-2018 season. – Anthony Marcotte

However, there are still questions about his potential impact on the ice. Gélinas has seen less action in recent years, and his offensive numbers have dropped. Still, if he can stay fit and perform well, his experience could be a valuable asset to the team, both on the ice and in the locker room.

The training camp offers Gélinas a chance to prove he still has plenty of hockey left to offer. His presence could bring stability to the team, which will need seasoned players to help develop the organization’s talented young prospects.
