The Seattle Seahawks bolstered their running back depth by signing former Las Vegas Raiders rusher Brittain Brown. This move comes as star running back Ken Walker remains sidelined with an abdominal injury.

Walker has yet to practice ahead of Week 3, and head coach Mike Macdonald remained noncommittal, saying “we’ll see” regarding Walker’s participation later in the week. The Seahawks also signed wide receiver Miles Boykin as part of their September 18, 2024, roster updates.

As a rookie, Brown appeared in six games for the Raiders, mainly contributing on special teams. Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 205 pounds, Brown spent three college seasons at Duke before transferring to UCLA for his final two years.

Brown’s standout season came in 2021, when he recorded 102 carries for 615 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns, along with 18 receptions for 129 yards.

New Seahawks Running Back Brittain Brown’s Strength Is Physicality & Breaking Tackles

Zach Charbonnet and Kenny McIntosh are expected to handle the workload while Walker is out. Brown, a seventh-round pick by the Raiders in the 2022 NFL Draft, was praised by NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein before the draft for his physical running style and ability to break tackles.

Raiders: Zamir White and Brittain Brown are lucky winners from Josh Jacobs' absence

Zierlein described Brown’s running style as lacking fluidity and the quickness needed to keep up with NFL defenses. Although he has good vision and can break tackles, his limited elusiveness and lack of experience on special teams or third downs could hinder his success at the next level.

The Seahawks Will Face Dolphins Backup QB Skylar Thompson in Week 3

The Seahawks released veterans Marquise Blair and Quinton Bohanna to make space for Brown and Boykin. Seattle aims to improve to 3-0 with a victory over the Miami Dolphins.

Meanwhile, Miami faces injury challenges, having placed star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on Injured Reserve. Skylar Thompson is set to start at quarterback against the Seahawks in Week 3. Despite the setback, the betting line has slightly shifted in favor of the Dolphins.

Seattle is currently a 4.5-point favorite over Miami, down from the 5.5-point opening line earlier in the week.
