The Arizona Diamondbacks announced Sunday that they’ve called up right-hander Austin Pope from Triple-A Reno ahead of their matchup with the Philadelphia Phillies. To make room, pitcher Jake Woodford was designated for assignment.
Pope, a 2019 15th-round pick by Arizona, has appeared in 31 games for Reno this season, logging 37 innings with a 4.38 ERA, 43 strikeouts, and a 1.43 WHIP.

Woodford’s DFA comes after a rough outing against Philadelphia on Friday, when he gave up four earned runs on five hits and two walks over two innings. Across 22 games with the D-backs this year, he went 0–6 with a 6.44 ERA and 23 strikeouts.
Diamondbacks’ next game
Coming off a 4-3 win on Saturday, the Diamondbacks will close out their three-game set with the Phillies on Sunday.

Arizona enters the finale trailing the New York Mets by two games for the final NL Wild Card spot, with the Cincinnati Reds just a game behind them.
Eduardo Rodriguez will get the start for the D-backs, facing off against Phillies left-hander Ranger Suarez. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m.
